In 2003, The Cook Islands released a series of eight 39mm (silver dollar size) copper-nickel dollar coins featuring “Man’s Best Friends”: dogs and cats.  Each coin has a multi-color picture of a dog or a cat on it.  The dog coins feature a multi colored picture of a  Scotty, Red Setter, German Shepard, or a Boxer.  The cat coins feature a Russian Blue, Persian, British Shorthair or a Siamese.  All coins are Uncirculated.

This particular listing is only for the BOXER coin. 

The front shows a beautiful color image of a Boxer Dog together with inscriptions in the surround of the name of the coin series “MAN’S BEST FRIENDS” and the coin denomination “ONE DOLLAR”.

This 39 mm coin is much larger than both USA quarter (24.26 mm in diameter) and USA half dollar (30.61 mm in diameter)
